Student Features

Open TutorAI gives students a personal learning space where they can follow teacher-led courses, create their own tutoring sessions, complete assignments, and learn with an AI tutor. This page covers the features available to a student account.

Getting started
  1. Create an account and sign in. (The first account on a new instance becomes the administrator.)
  2. Join a classroom with a course code, or create your own Support (personalized tutoring session).
  3. Start your session and learn with the avatar tutor.

📊 Dashboard

The dashboard is the student's home screen. It gives a single view of ongoing work and learning activity, including the status of courses, supports, and assignments (such as pending, in-progress, and completed items), so students can quickly pick up where they left off.

🏫 Classrooms & Courses

Students access the classrooms and courses they are enrolled in from one place. Enrolment is done with a course code provided by a teacher. From a classroom a student can open course materials, related supports, and assignments.

🎓 Supports (personalized tutoring)

Supports are personalized tutoring sessions a student creates for extra practice or self-study. A step-by-step wizard guides the setup so the AI tutor can tailor the session:

  1. Subject — pick a subject or enter a custom one.
  2. Course — choose the relevant course or topic.
  3. Objectives — describe what you want to achieve.
  4. Level — set the difficulty to match your current understanding.
  5. Details — add any extra context for the session.
  6. Review — confirm your choices, then start the tutoring chat.

Once created, a support can be opened, edited, or revisited at any time from the student's list of supports.

You control your learning path

Supports let students decide how they learn — whether revising existing material, preparing for an exam, or building a new skill from scratch — independently of teacher-led courses.

📝 Assignments

In development

This feature is still under development and may not be available in the current release.

The assignments section lists the coursework a student needs to complete. Each assignment shows its status (for example pending, in-progress, completed, or overdue) and its points, and students can submit their work directly from this view.

💬 Messages

In development

This feature is still under development and may not be available in the current release.

The messaging system connects students with their teachers and classmates:

  • Group chats — course-specific discussion groups.
  • Direct messages — one-to-one conversations with teachers or classmates.

🧑‍🏫 Avatar & Voice/Video Mode

Open TutorAI CE includes an avatar-powered discussion mode with voice and video, giving students an interactive, face-to-face style of tutoring.

⚙️ Settings

The settings area lets students manage their account and preferences, including profile details, interface language (Arabic, French, English), theme, and notifications.
